A MAN has been stabbed in an attack in his own home.

The 34-year-old was assaulted with a knife in his flat in Bonhill Road, Dumbarton, West Dunbartonshire, at about 9pm on Friday.

The attacker entered the property and stabbed the victim before fleeing.

The injured man was taken by ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley where he is in a stable condition being treated for stab wounds.

The suspect is described as white, 6ft and was wearing a blue jumper.

Police Scotland Detective Inspector Scott Hamilton, at Clydebank CID, said: "Although we are trying to establish a motive for this violent attack we strongly believe that this was not random and that the 34-year-old man was the intended target."

He added that there would be "additional high-visibility patrols in the area who I would encourage local residents to speak to if they have any information or concerns."
