THE big countdown to the Old Firm showdown is still on... but at last we can give you the big reveal over our two new signings.

SportTimes is delighted to announce former Rangers captain Lee McCulloch and Celtic goalscoring legend John Hartson have exclusively signed up to be the new voices every week on all things to do with the Celts and Gers.

There are few better qualified to give you it straight on what’s going on at Ibrox and Parkhead. Over a five-year period Big Bad John netted an incredible 109 goals in green and white hoops, helping Martin O’Neill’s side to the Uefa Cup final in 2003.

Meanwhile, Lee played over 200 games in the blue of Rangers during his eight years in Govan, going on to play in the Uefa Cup final in Manchester 10 years ago while also later becoming captain.

“I’m delighted to have joined up with the Evening Times,” Said John. “There’s a lot to talk about with Celtic just now, and I’ve plenty to say.”

Lee added: “Giving my opinion on Scottish football and Rangers is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. I’ve seen some great highs and lows as a player, now it’s my turn to tell you what I think about all things Rangers.”

Scott Mullen, the Herald and Times head of sport, said: “We have been looking to add to our Old Firm line up for some time and I’m thrilled we’ve managed to get John and Lee on board.

“They both bring a wealth of experience, knowledge and opinion to our paper, and I’m sure they’ll be as much of an asset in print as they were on the pitch.”

You will still be able to read Davie Hay and Derek Johnstone, with John and Lee’s first columns appearing exclusively in tomorrow’s SportTimes.
