TWO men have been arrested after an 11-year-old girl returned home from school and found her mother dead.

Police arrested a 39-yearold in connection with the death of Jennifer Morgan at her home in Alexander Place, Kirkintilloch, while a 32-year-old was also arrested.

Police also carried out a search on a property in Maryhill, Glasgow, where Ms Morgan is originally from. Officers searched the flat in Duncruin Street for several hours, while nearby Sandbank Drive was later sealed off as police removed a vehicle.

Police last night confirmed the activity in Maryhill is part of the investigation.

Ms Morgan, 33, was discovered lying in a pool of blood in the back yard outside the Kirkintilloch property by her daughter when she returned home on Wednesday.

The alarm was raised and emergency services rushed to the scene at 3.40pm.

Neighbours spotted the youngster sitting on a wall alone crying. Michael Dunn, who has lived in the area for 30 years, said: “I came back to my house and spotted the girl.

“My daughter went over and asked her if she was okay. She said: ‘My mother’s passed away’.”

Mr Dunn, 58, added: “She’s walked in and seen the blood. Then she has obviously gone round and saw her mum, and ran out.

We took the girl in until her dad arrived to take her home. For an 11-year-old to see her mother like that is horrible.”

Ms Morgan had also lived in Coatbridge. It is understood she moved to Kirkintilloch about three weeks ago.
