WORK is being carried out to return Glasgow Green to its former glory after worrying pictures emerged of worn-out grass covering the park after a music festival during the heatwave.

The images showed the effect TRNSMT and the soaring temperatures have had on the location, with aerial shots displaying stretches of brown grass.

They reveal that after a month of use for the TRNSMT music festival and weeks of sunny weather, Glasgow Green is no longer really living up to its name. It is understood much of the grass is still alive and will benefit from wetter weather which has returned to the city in the past few days.

However, Glasgow City Council has confirmed it is being returfed, which they say is standard procedure following major events which affect the grass.

Social media user Thomas Clay posted an image showing the grass being re-turfed, saying: “Seems a lot of expense and work to fix.”

The next major event to take place in the park is GO LIVE! as part of the European Championship Games next month.
