A driving course with a difference is being run by Richmond Council which starts next week.

Aimed at drivers aged 17 and 21, the course offers six lessons in advanced driving techniques, recognising hazards and motorway skills.

Students will also have the chance to get behind the wheel of a lorry and a bus, be given demonstrations by police drivers and go on a visit to a skid pan in Berkshire.

Course organiser Chris King, from the councils Safety Education Team, said: "This is designed to help young motorists get off to a good start. By offering this course we aim to help young motorists enjoy their time on the road, and drive with safety and skill."

The course starts next Tuesday, costs £20 and runs for six consecutive weeks. This includes the visit to the skid pan.
