Alan Morris, 55, claimed he was working on repairs and blamed other jewellers for delays after being confronted about missing items over a four-year period.
But police launched an investigation after dozens of customers complained that watches, rings, bracelets and necklaces had vanished from the Figaro shop in Hamilton.
