POLICE in Fife yesterday closed down a cannabis plantation with an estimated street value of £75,000 after a house raid.

Fife Constabulary seized the drugs in a raid on a house in Thornton, near Dunfermline, Fife.

A 21-year-old man from Lochgelly has been arrested, and is due to appear in court in Kirkcaldy on Monday.

The seizure takes the total value of drugs seized by the force's drug squad to £435,000 in 10 days.

Detective Superintendent Colin Beattie said: "The targeting of drug dealing and serious and organised crime is a very high priority for Fife Constabulary and we are committed to taking enforcement action on all those involved in this form of criminality.

"On this occasion, £75,000 worth of Class B drugs has been removed from the streets of Fife, and I want to assure everyone that we will continue to take action against the drug dealers who cause so much misery to our communities.

"Within the last ten days the Force Drug Squad has seized controlled drugs with a street value of £435,000 and this is further evidence of our commitment to working closely with Fife's communities."
