The Clyde 1 host, 44, was due to go on trial this month accused of knocking Derek Mitchell down a flight of stairs and repeatedly assaulting him with a shoe at their home in Eaglesham, East Renfrewshire.
But the case had to be postponed because Ms McGuire - who is being prosecuted under her married name of Susan Mitchell - is unfit to stand trial.
A new trial date could not be fixed at a court hearing last week because it was unclear when Ms McGuire would be back to full health.
The case was continued for further inquiries and it emerged yesterday that Ms McGuire, who has been diagnosed as having a major depressive disorder, is in hospital.
Iain Fleming, defending, told Paisley Sheriff Court she had been admitted to hospital "in relation to an unrelated matter".
At last week's hearing the lawyer said Ms McGuire, a mother-of-four, had been "diagnosed as suffering from a major depressive disorder".
The trial was adjourned until November.
