POLICE searching for a man following an unprovoked attack near a Glasgow ­supermarket have released CCTV images in their hunt for the suspect.

It is believed the man in the pictures may be able to help with officers' inquiries into the assault in Summerston in May.

A 35-year-old man was hit in the face with a hammer on Gorstan Street near the Asda supermarket before his attacker ran off towards nearby Arrochar Street.

The victim was taken to the Western Infirmary but was later discharged following treatment. The incident took place at around 9am on Thursday, May 15.

Police are keen to speak to the man in the CCTV images as they believe he may be able to help with their investigation.

He is described as being white, about 5ft 10in tall and of slim build. At the time he was wearing dark trousers, dark shoes and a dark hooded top with yellow stripes on the arms.
