A MAN who was caught walking on a street with £160,000-worth of cocaine in a cornflakes box has been jailed for four years.

Police stopped Guiseppe Trimani, 58, after receiving information that he was in possession of drugs.

Officers looked inside a shopping bag and saw Trimani had two blocks of the Class A drug stashed inside the box when he was detained at Tinto Road, Bishopbriggs, Glasgow, on September 5 last year.

At the High Court in Edinburgh, judge, Lord Boyd of Duncansby, told Trimani, of Windhill Crescent, Mansewood, Glasgow, it was clear he was more than simply a courier.

Lord Boyd told Trimani he would have faced five years in jail but for admitting to being concerned in the supply of drugs.

Defence counsel Tony Graham said Trimani had developed a cocaine habit and had built up debts.
