A LORRY driver who killed another motorist when his truck ploughed into his stranded car when he was blinded by a low sun, has received a community order.
Paisley Sheriff Court had heard how Archibald Graham's son heard his father's last words seconds before he died when a truck struck his car.
Mr Graham, 68, had called him to say that his vehicle had run out of fuel and come to a halt on the A737 in Renfrewshire, on May 7 last year. The accident occurred during the phone call.
The Malcolm's HGV driven by Andrew Dominick hit the car while travelling at over 50 miles an hour.
Sheriff Seith Ireland made the accused the subject of a community payback order requiring him to complete 170 hours of unpaid hours in a 12-month period. He was also disqualified from driving for two years.
