Extra cash to help female offenders

Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill has said he expects to see “positive results” after announcing an £800,000 package aimed at reducing the number of women in Scottish jails.

The figure has almost doubled over 10 years to a daily average of 420 and Mr MacAskill said the money would be used to tackle the management of women offenders in prison and in the community.
