A ROMANIAN flower seller who raped a woman in a Glasgow city centre lane has been jailed for seven years.

Emanuel Risti was 16 when he attacked the 39-year-old woman, in the lane which runs between Scott Street and Dalhousie Street on February 11, 2011.

The woman was raped by another man immediately before Risti raped her.

A trial was abandoned after Risti's brother Roberto - a key witness - flew back to Romania midway through his evidence. Risti then fled to Romania but was brought back to justice by police.

At his second trial Risti pled guilty to rape after his brother gave evidence against him.

Jailing 18-year-old Risti judge Norman Ritchie told him: "You present a danger to the public, particularly women." He added: "Your victim's life has been devastated by the actions of you and the other man."
