Footballer not guilty of assault

A SEMI-professional footballer has been cleared of breaking former Hibernian star Gary Deegan's jaw.

John Hall, 28, of Edinburgh, wept after a jury returned a not guilty verdict to a charge alleging he assaulted him in George Street, Edinburgh, in October 2012. Edinburgh Sheriff Court had heard Mr Hall admit to punching Mr Deegan on the face, but in self defence.
