Gangland hit ‘was targeted’ but not linked to twin attacks

A man seriously injured in a shooting was the victim of a targeted attack, the latest in a series of hits that have fuelled fears innocent bystanders could get caught up in the violence.

Andrew McGaughey, 41, was gunned down as he walked along a path just yards from a primary school in Bridgeton, Glasgow, at around 8.05pm on Tuesday. A passer-by phoned an ambulance and he was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary, where he is in a serious but stable condition.
