Girl in bottle attack

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a nine-year-old girl was hit over the head with a bottle.

The youngster was walking alone on Craigton Road in Govan, Glasgow, when she was struck by a man wearing a grey tracksuit and who appeared to be drunk. He then made off towards the Drumoyne housing estate.

Det Insp Scott McMillan said: "This was an unprovoked attack on an innocent girl. We are continuing extensive inquiries and would like to reassure the local community we are doing all we can to identify the person responsible."
