Hibs fan fined after Cup Final skirmish

A Hibernian supporter has been fined and banned from football matches for three years after a scuffle with a rival fan after the Scottish Cup final.

Kevin Watt, 23, pushed, struggled with and tried to punch the man after the Hibs v Hearts game at Hampden on May 19, which Hearts won 5-1.

Watt was drinking in a bar before the incident on Edinburgh's Easter Road.

He admitted a charge under the section of the Criminal Justice and Licensing Act. He has now been sentenced for the offence. Watt was handed a £500 fine and a three-year football banning order at Edinburgh Sheriff Court, meaning he is barred from all regulated football matches across the UK.

Watt is also not allowed to enter any licensed premises in Easter Road during any match in which Hibs are playing. His co-accused, 25-year-old Steven Eng, was handed a £270 fine for pushing the same man.

Faith Millar, football liaison prosecutor, said: "We will continue to prosecute those who behave in an unacceptable manner."
