Jail term for beating girlfriend

AN AMATEUR boxer who left his ex-girlfriend "a couple of blows from death" after beating her unconscious has been jailed for three years.

Kieran McLuckie, 19, fractured Nicole Coyle's eye sockets so badly she needed five metal plates in her face.

The surgeon who operated on her said it was the "most extreme injuries" he had ever seen to eye sockets.

McLuckie, described as "jealous and insecure" by Miss Coyle, attacked her three times last year.

McLuckie pled guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to three assaults on Miss Coyle, including an assault to the danger of her life.
