Killer gives thumbs-up to sentence

A WOMAN gave a thumbs- up as she was locked up for killing a Good Samaritan who loaned her £10.

Dianne Orr battered Christina Steven in January this year after the victim had asked to be re-paid.

A jury heard how Orr "lost the rag" with the "generous" 38-year-old, who died days later.

Orr lashed out at Ms Steven, who ended up with a cut head after being repeatedly punched.

Orr, 41, was jailed for four years and two months at the High Court in Glasgow after being convicted of culpable homicide.

Lord Matthews told her: "Whether the £10 was repaid or not I do not know – but the tragedy of this case is perhaps heightened by the fact that at its root was so little money."

Beaming Orr – who was said to be "remorseful" – smiled and a gave a thumbs- up to relatives as she was taken to the cells. The victim's mother, Margaret, reacted angrily to the sentence, saying: "Four years for a life is nothing. It is an absolute disgrace."
