Legal aid underfunded warning

The president of the Law Society of Scotland has warned that legal aid is still underfunded and suggested future regulators might want to consider a compulsory scheme to ensure access to justice.

Ian Smart said that under the forthcoming bill to introduce so-called “Tesco law”, regulators might consider obliging firms to provide certain legal services to the public for free or pay other firms to do so.
