A man has been arrested in connection with the alleged rape of a woman as she made her way home from a fancy dress party.

The 35-year-old was attacked in a car park near Glasgow city centre in the early hours of Sunday October 27.

Police said the woman was dressed as a bride and wearing a white dress and veil at the time of the incident in Bridge Street in the Gorbals area.

A 24-year-old man was arrested in connection with the alleged serious sexual assault, officers said.

He is expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court tomorrow.

Police Scotland said in a statement: "A 24-year-old man has been arrested and is presently detained in police custody in connection with the incident. A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."
