A man has appeared in court charged with murdering the brother of gangster Tam McGraw.

Thomas Main, 41, is alleged to have killed Francis McGrow, 55, whose body was discovered at about 10am on October 27, in his flat on Hermiston Road in Glasgow's east end.

Mr Main, from Glasgow, appeared in private at Glasgow Sheriff Court where he made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody. He is due to appear next week for full committal.

Mr McGrow was the brother of Tam McGraw, the late Glasgow crime boss who died from a suspected heart attack in 2007.

Known as The Licensee, McGraw was a feared member of the city's underworld with links to drug trafficking and extortion.

Police have said the brothers had different names because Tam changed his from McGrow to McGraw.

Detectives have also said there was nothing to suggest Francis McGraw's death was related to organised crime.
