Strathclyde Police said the man, 47, was subjected to the "horrifying" and "calculated" attack on Houston Road in Johnstone, Renfrewshire at 1.30pm on Friday afternoon.
His black Bentley GT was hit from behind by a silver four-door saloon car, which had three male occupants, and he pulled over to speak to the other driver.
