Man who murdered uncle jailed

A 21-year-old man who stabbed his uncle to death in a row over £400 allegedly stolen from his grandmother has been jailed for at least 14-and-a-half years.

Yesterday at the High Court in Glasgow David Hobson was sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering his 42-year-old uncle Gary Logue in a flat in Elderpark Street, Glasgow, on February 23 and then dumping his naked body.

The court heard Mr Logue suffered one stab wound through the heart and would have died in minutes.

Temporary judge Sean Murphy QC set the punishment part of Hobson's sentence at 14 years and six months before he is eligible to apply for parole.

Hobson was told the sentence would have been 16 years but for his early plea.
