The death of a man whose body was found in a flat is being treated as suspicious.

The 49-year-old was found dead in the property in the Balnagask Avenue area of Torry, Aberdeen, at about 2pm on Monday.

Police Scotland said the man is understood to be a Polish national and that work is under way to trace and inform his relatives.

Detective Chief Inspector Iain Smith issued a plea for witnesses. He said: "We are especially interested in talking to anyone who was in the area between 9am and 2pm (on Monday)."

He said there would be a large police presence in the area as officers carried out inquiries. "Incidents of this nature are unusual and all resources necessary will be dedicated to resolving this incident," he added.
