Methven murder inquiry examined

DETAILS of the high-profile investigation into the murder of a Scots pensioner will be presented to a police board next week

Jenny Methven was bludgeoned to death at her remote cottage near Forteviot, Perthshire, in February 2012 by William Kean, a friend of her son, David.

Kean was convicted of her murder in August.

The investigation into the murder was the largest ever undertaken by Tayside Police, and details of the investigation will be presented to the Tayside Joint Police Board, at its last meeting before the national force comes into being. Members will be shown a short presentation and DVD on the murder.

The manhunt for the killer saw 80 police officers and specialists assigned to the murder inquiry and every police force in Scotland offered assistance.

The investigation even included a call to experts with links to the FBI.

The board meeting is in Perth council chambers on Monday, when the presentation on the way the murder investigation was carried out is likely to be heard by members sitting in private.
