A mother was yesterday still being held in connection with the death of her five-year-old son.

Farai Chirashi spent the weekend in custody after her son, Scott, was found with what police called a "significant injury" on Friday in Alva, Clackmannanshire.

The 32-year-old, originally from Zimbabwe, has lived in Scotland for some years.

A sheriff is understood to have granted a petition warrant against Mrs Chirashi.

Police have said they are not looking for anybody else in connection with the death.

Sources suggested Mrs Chirashi was being detained under the Mental Health Act.

Neighbours and well-wishers have erected a makeshift shrine for Scott, who went to Alva Primary, close to his home in the town's Carnaughton Place.
