George Rogerson of Plean is accused of killing Leon Cairney in the early hours of December 22 last year.
It is alleged he, along with two others, assaulted another man, Simon Blair, in the street in the village of Plean, near Stirling.
Mr Rogerson, Darren Rogerson, of Falkirk, and Sean Curran, of Bannockburn, are also accused of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner to Simon Blair and Jodie Cairney by kicking the front door of a house in Plean and demanding Mr Blair leave the house and fight.
Darren Rogerson is then alleged to have assaulted Mr Blair at a neighbouring property.
George Rogerson is alleged to have murdered Leon Cairney by repeatedly stabbing him with a knife. It is further alleged George Rogerson was in possession of diazepam on the night of the alleged killing.
The first day of the trio's trial at the High Court in Dundee yesterday heard that Mr Blair had been asked to attend Falkirk Police Office on January 17 where he identified a picture of George Rogerson as the man he had seen fighting with Leon Cairney on the night he was attacked.
All three men deny the charges.
