A POLICE constable who stole drugs and cash from a police station told detectives he "completely flipped", a court hear.

Dean Burnett was interviewed by officers and told them he took drugs from the station's storage area.

A jury at the High Court in Edinburgh heard Burnett, 42, said he had taken money, cocaine and other items..

The Crown accepted Burnett's guilty plea to stealing £205,279 along with cocaine, cannabis and heroin and powders he believed to be drugs between August 2010 and January 25 last year.

At the time he was a Strathclyde police constable at Govan police station, in Helen Street, in Glasgow.

Allegations that he stole other drugs and sex toys were deleted, but he has denied further charges of being concerned in the supply of cocaine and diazepam and offering to supply heroin.

The trial before judge Sean Murphy, QC, continues.
