TWO elderly men who brawled over a boundary dispute at their luxury villas have been told by a sheriff to grow up and act their ages.

Terence Doyle, 74, was left with a suspected broken nose and claimed he had been set upon by 75-year-old neighbour David Poole, who was described as being like "a trained cage fighter".

The two businessmen ended up rolling around on the ground as a simmering feud descended into violence. They were seen grappling each other by witnesses and eventually had to be separated by a passing rugby referee.

Yesterday at Perth Sheriff Court, Sheriff Fiona Tait berated the quality of the men's evidence and condemned them for fighting at a combined age of 150. She told Mr Poole: "It is clear neither you nor Mr Doyle behaved in a manner fitting for your age."

Mr Poole denied assaulting Mr Doyle in Gamekeepers Road, Kinnesswood, on September 9 last year, and said he had lashed out with a single punch when Mr Doyle pounced on him.

Sheriff Tait cleared Mr Poole of assault after saying that it was impossible to establish how the fight started.
