Police chief blames alcohol for 14 murders in 10 weeks

Alcohol has played a major role in 14 murders in the past 10 weeks with cheap vodka and house parties largely to blame, the head of ­Scotland’s ­largest police force has said.

Strathclyde Police Chief Constable Steve House warned that he expected the abnormally high level of drink-fuelled violence to escalate during the World Cup, which begins on Friday.
