Police forces to look at further amalgamation

Every aspect of policing in Scotland is to be scrutinised for savings by a high-level group of officers to meet cuts of up to £40 million a year.

A team set up by the Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland (Acpos) will look at whether a smaller number of “specialist” hubs could handle certain services, rather than them being duplicated across eight different forces.
