A MAN has suffered a serious injury to his face in a violent attack in a quiet street.

The 31-year-old was assaulted in Baillieston, Glasgow, at around 9pm on Wednesday. He was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary after being set-upon by a lone man in South Scott Street.

Police Scotland said a member of the public tried to help the victim as he made his way to a friend's house.

The suspect, who ran off towards Main Street, is described as white, around 30, 5ft 11in and of medium build. He was wearing a dark tracksuit and a black cap.

Detective Constable David Oates, of Greater Glasgow CID, said: "The victim has sustained a significant facial injury as a result of this violent attack and it is vital we trace and apprehend the person responsible."
