POLICE are appealing for two teenage men who went to the aid of a 14-year-old girl raped on a double decker bus to come forward.

The Asian men, who were both aged around 19, are understood to have intervened in the incident which took place on a late night bus in Glasgow two weeks ago.

The victim had boarded the number 57 at Silverburn shopping centre with a friend, who was also 14, at 10.30pm on Friday, March 22.

The two girls were sitting downstairs before one of them went up and started speaking to two men, who had been on the bus when the girls got on.

The pair both assaulted the teenager before raping her. The two Asian men and a woman came to her aid after her friend raised the alarm, and helped the teenagers off the bus a couple of stops from Silverburn.

Police are asking the Asian men and four other men who had been on the top deck of the bus when the rapists boarded in the city centre to help them trace the culprits.

DCI Stephen Grant said: "We are keen to talk to the two young Asian men who helped the young woman and a further four males who were on the top deck.

"At the moment we don't know where the two Asian men got off the bus but I am appealing directly to them, and to the other four witnesses, to get in touch."
