Police seek two men after rape of woman in Glasgow

POLICE investigating the rape of a woman have said she was attacked by two men.

Detectives from Greater Glasgow's Rape Investigation Unit are reviewing CCTV footage following the sexual assault of the 24-year-old woman in Dixon Road, in the early hours of Monday. They said the images show the victim outside the Spar shop on Cathcart Road after 1am and again around 50 minutes later.

The footage also shows four men who police are urging to come forward to help with their investigation.

Two, who are seen with the woman in the CCTV, are described as both having sallow complexions and dark hair. They were wearing dark clothing. Another two men wearing high-visibility yellow jackets were seen near the Spar shop at the same time.

Detective Inspector Liz McLean, who is leading the inquiry, said: "Our review of CCTV images from the surrounding area has shown there were several people around the Cathcart Road area around the time of the incident.

"A number of people have already come forward to assist our investigation but we are keen to speak to these four men who we have seen on the CCTV to get in touch with us. It's possible they have information which could prove vital in assisting the investigation and help us trace those responsible for this attack."

She added: "I'm aware this incident will be a cause for concern for local residents and I would like to reassure people there are a number of additional patrols in the area.

"Anyone who has any information or concerns can speak to an officer or contact their local police office."
