Policeman denies 11 offences

A POLICE officer is to stand trial accused of 11 assaults and breaches of the peace while on duty.

Russell Gillespie is alleged to have carried out a series of attacks while on duty with Tayside Police in Dundee, Perth and Angus.

He faces 11 charges on indictment at Dundee Sheriff Court and will stand trial by jury later this month.

His alleged offences are said to have started on November 10, 2009, where he faces an allegation of breach of the peace.

Mr Gillespie, 42, denies all of the 11 charges on the indictment.
