Professor cleared of porn charges

A DOCTOR turned law professor who was allegedly found with child pornography on his computers – then was said to have admitted to police he had looked at images of children – has been cleared of possessing the images.

Dr Alasdair Maclean, who lectures at Dundee University, was reported to police by the Child Exploitation and Online Protection unit after his details were found linked to a sick website in August 2007.

Police officers then applied for a warrant to search his home in October 2009 but it was not pursued by prosecutors, because of the passage of time between the allegation and the warrant being requested.
