Scotland-wide inquiry into sex trafficking

The Equality and Human Rights Commission is to use its unique powers to hold a national inquiry into human trafficking in Scotland.

The unprecedented investigation will be led by Baroness Helena Kennedy, QC, and will focus on commercial sexual exploitation.

Under the 2006 Equality Act, the commission can instigate an inquiry and compel witnesses to give evidence.
