Scots courts may open six days a week to ease load

SCOTTISH courts have not sat on a Saturday for more than three decades, but under law reforms by one of the country's top judges they could be back in business at weekends.

High Court judge Lord Carloway has put forward a six-day working week for the country’s sheriffs, and many of its criminal lawyers, to ease the strain placed on the overloaded system, which currently sits from Monday to Friday.
