Solicitors set to snub new rules on legal advice

Hundreds of solicitors are to boycott the Lord Advocate’s new guidelines, which say suspects have to be offered legal advice before police interviews.

The Glasgow Bar Association, Scotland’s largest group of court lawyers, has agreed that its members should not attend police stations to advise suspects being interviewed who are not existing clients, as per the changes introduced last month.
