A TEN-YEAR-OLD boy was stabbed in the head, allegedly by another schoolboy.

The boy was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee by ambulance and treated by surgeons who glued the injury to stop the bleeding.

Police were called to the incident, which happened shortly after 7pm on Sunday on a grassy area in the north west of Dundee.

They confirmed another boy, also aged ten, was taken into custody and would be reported to the Youth Justice Assessor.

The victim's father, aged 35, said: "We could have been looking at a murder investigation here."

The father said he and his partner "dropped everything" and ran to their injured son after another young boy came to their door to tell them of the incident.

They found him being attended to by paramedics.

The man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of his son, said: "This place is getting worse. You hear about things like this happening in London but you don't expect it here.

"When someone comes to the house and tells you your son has been stabbed, you think the worst.

"Parents should be checking their kids' pockets for knives when they go out."

The boy's mother, 34, added: "It's terrible.

"The doctors said it was lucky he wasn't more seriously injured."
