THREE juveniles have been reported to the procurator fiscal and the Children's Panel in connection with a fire which damaged a building in Stornoway.

The two boys and a girl - all 13 years old - are accused of starting the fire at the tenement at The Granite Building at Cromwell Street.

Police appealed for details about a group of young people seen in the vicinity after two fires broke out in the same spot within hours. It is understood information about their identities emerged on Saturday.

No-one was reported injured as a result of the main fire, which was spotted around 2.40am on Friday morning. A gale was blowing at the time and the expertise of fire-fighters in quickly getting the fire under control prevented flames sweeping through a number of adjoining properties.
