Two armed robbers hit Shell garage

A WORKER at a petrol station was threatened with a firearm by thieves who stole cash and cigarettes from behind the till.

Police said the female employee was left badly shaken after the men demanded she hand over money at the Shell filling station in Portland Place, Hamilton, South Lanarkshire, at around 8.30pm on Tuesday.

The men ran off towards the Barleycorn Pub on Low Waters Road. One was aged between 40 and 45 and the other between 30 and 35.

Police officers have been carrying out door-to-door inquiries and examining CCTV footage.
