Two hurt in attack by gang

Two men are in hospital after being attacked by a group of up to six men.

Police said the assault in Rutherglen, near Glasgow, in the early hours of yesterday morning, was totally unprovoked.

The men, both aged 22, were walking with friends along Cruachan Road at around 2.35am when they were challenged by the group. Both men were attacked, one with a knife and the other with a bottle. They were taken to hospital where their condition was described as serious but stable.
