A BODYBUILDER whose former girlfriend committed suicide because of his savage beatings has been refused the right to appeal to Britain's highest court.

Thomas O'Leary,31, wanted to go to the UK Supreme Court because he feared he was going to be given a life sentence on the strength of a newspaper story featuring a claim that one of his ex-girlfriends had committed suicide because of how he treated her.

O'Leary claimed a judge breached his human rights by sending a copy to a psychologist preparing a report on the risk he posed.
