THE widow of a man murdered by his brother has secured a £1.5 million settlement from her brother-in-law after suing him for damages.

Saimah Siddique yesterday obtained a court order that means convicted killer Mohammed Azam Siddique - known as Mo - is liable to pay compensation for her and her children after he and two Bulgarian accomplices assassinated his brother.

Mrs Siddique's husband, Mohammed Nadeem Siddique - known as Toby - was gunned down at a flat in Forres Drive in Glenrothes, Fife, on October 24, 2010.

His brother and two others, Tencho Andonov and Deyan Nikolov, were found guilty of the murder and sentenced to life imprisonment after a trial at the High Court in Edinburgh in 2012.

Siddique, 44, was ordered to serve at least 25 years, gunman Andonov, 30, was given a minimum term of 29 years and Nikolov, 29, a minimum term of 18 years by the trial judge.

Mrs Siddique's counsel Simon Di Rollo QC yesterday told the Court of Session in Edinburgh that a deal had been agreed between the parties and Siddique would pay a sum of money in full and final settlement.

He said: "It is unusual case, in the sense that one does not come across allegations of murder in civil proceedings."
