A SOCIAL worker was caught delivering a £500,000 haul of illegal drugs during a police surveillance operation.

Kirsty Watson, 24, was found to have 100 kilos of cannabis resin in boxes in the rear of her car after driving from Lancashire to a meeting in Dunfermline .

Police moved in on Watson and her co-accused at Townhill country park, the High Court in Edinburgh heard.

Watson, from Preston, claimed she believed she was moving money from illegal activity for Mohammed Nurien. The former social services professional said she was to be paid £500.

Watson had earlier admitted being concerned in the supply of the Class B drug. Craig Maxwell, 29, from Dunfermline, pled guilty to being concerned in the supply of amphetamine.

Nurien, from Manchester, was found guilty of being concerned in the supply of cannabis resin.

Sean Murphy, 42, of Crombie, in Fife, also admitted being concerned in the supply of cannabis.

All four will be sentenced later this month.
