A WOMAN has been arrested after a cyclist was found dead in the middle of a road.
Police said the 31-year-old man, who was riding a mountain bike when he is believed to have been hit by a car, was found near an Esso petrol station on the A24 in Beare Green, Surrey, by a member of the public at 1.25am yesterday.
Police said paramedics pronounced the cyclist dead at the scene.
The A24 was closed between the Beare Green roundabout northbound and Mill Road southbound while officers carried out their investigation.
A 47-year-old woman from Horley, Surrey, has been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of an accident and driving while under the influence of alcohol.
She is currently in custody, helping police with their inquiries.
