A THUG attacked a woman at a busy train station.

The 32-year-old victim and the female suspect bumped into each other at Paisley Gilmour Street station.

It happened at around 12.10pm on Saturday.

Police said the victim was verbally abused and pushed at platform 3.

The suspect, who was wearing a green canvas jacket and dark blue jeans, made off from the station.

She is described as being about 5ft 6in tall, with wavy ginger hair, which was tied up in a bun.

Footage from CCTV cameras in the area are being reviewed in a bid to identify her.

The victim boarded the 11.36am Ardrossan Harbour to Glasgow Central service and reported the incident to police.

Constable Patrick Moran, the BTP officer in charge of the inquiry, is appealing for information.

He said: "This was an unnecessary and unwarranted assault which left the victim shaken.

"The train's only stop after Paisley Gilmour Street was Glasgow Central and it would have been busy with other passengers.

"I am appealing for anyone who was on that service or at the station and can provide information which can help identify the suspect to get in touch with BTP urgently."
