POLICE are investigating a series of violent incidents including the stabbing of four men and an attempted murder in which a man was attacked with a hammer before being run down.

Four men were stabbed at around 1.30am yesterday during what was described as “a large scale” disturbance in the Bellfield area of Kilmarnock.

The men were taken to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment and later released.

A 26-year-old man was also attacked in the Balornock area of Glasgow at around 11.45pm on Friday night while waiting at a bus stop, which is being treated by police as an attempted murder.

A small silver car stopped beside him and a passenger in the vehicle ran towards the victim with a hammer, chasing him into the park where he was struck by the vehicle.

Two other male occupants of the car then got out and assaulted the victim with weapons.

The victim was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where his condition is described as serious but stable.

Police are also appealing for witnesses after two men jumped out of a car and assaulted a 30-year-old man in a “targeted attack” in Larkhall, South Lanarkshire at around 10.40pm on Thursday.

The victim was taken to Wishaw Hospital for treatment to his injuries and has since been discharged.
